Roger Worthington has donated over $1,020,000 to the Pacific Heart, Lung, & Blood Institute (PHLBI) and has been instrumental in opening a research laboratory dedicated to his father. The David "Punch" Worthington Research Laboratory opened at The David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA in 2005. He did so to honor his father who, after a valiant five year fight, succumbed to asbestos lung cancer in 2006. Through the PWR Lab, Roger Worthington also honors other patients with asbestos related cancer by funding research to not only expand existing treatment options, but also to target and prevent future asbestos cancer patients.

Funding Meso Research

Roger G. Worthington, P.C. has helped hundreds of patients find the best and brightest doctors, coast to coast. Yet, mesothelioma research continues to be under-funded. That is why in 1999, Roger G. Worthington founded the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation (MARF) to fund therapy-oriented research. MARF was the first non-profit organization to address patient and family needs for medical information. While other lawyers pay lip service to compassion, the Law Offices of Roger G. The only known cause of mesothelioma is exposure to asbestos. Typically, mesothelioma develops approximately 20-60 years after the initial asbestos exposure and affects about 3,000 people each year in the United States. Before 1980 over 27 million Americans were heavily exposed to asbestos, including workers in the construction trade industry, naval and shipbuilding trades, and those exposed through products at home or at their offices where asbestos may have been used to insulate buildings.
