Oral ZD1839 (IRESSA(R)) Versus Intravenous Docetaxel (TAXOTERE(R)) in Patients With Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (6/7/04)

  • Summary: The purpose of this study is to compare the overall survival between ZD1839 (Iressa?) and docetaxel. Patients must be 18 years or over with locally advanced or metastatic recurrent non-small cell lung cancer that have previously received platinum-based chemotherapy. Platinum-based chemotherapy regimens will most commonly consist of either cisplatin or carboplatin in combination with one of the following chemotherapeutic agents: paclitaxel, gemcitabine, vinorelbine, or docetaxel. Patients will either be given ZD1839 250mg/day orally or docetaxel 75 mg intravenously over 1 hour every 3 weeks.

  • Trial offered in: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Washington

Phase III, Alimta (pemetrexed) in Patients with Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer Who Have Failed a Prior Platinum-Containing Chemotherapy (March 5, 2004)

  • Summary: The purposes of this study are to determine: the safety of ALIMTA and any side effects that might be associated with it; how much ALIMTA should be given to patients.

It is possible that information collected during this study will be analyzed by the Sponsor in the future to evaluate ALIMTA for other possible uses or for other medical or scientific purposes other than those currently proposed. Although ALIMTA has been shown to be effective in some patients with non-small-cell lung cancer, ALIMTA might not have beneficial effects for all patients.
  • Trial offered in: Arkansas, California

Phase III, Gemcitabine and Carboplatin Followed By Docetaxel in Treating Patients With Stage IIIB or Stage IV Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

  • Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as gemcitabine, carboplatin, and docetaxel, use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Combining more than one drug may kill more tumor cells. It is not yet known which treatment regimen is more effective for stage IIIB or stage IV non-small cell lung cancer. Randomized phase III trial to compare the effectiveness of gemcitabine and carboplatin followed immediately by docetaxel with that of giving delayed docetaxel in treating patients who have stage IIIB or stage IV non-small cell lung cancer.
  • Trial offered in: Ohio
