H. Lee Moffitt Anticipates Taxotere Trial

I spoke to Dr. Lary Robinson of H. Lee Moffitt in Tampa, Florida on October 11, 1997 regarding taxotere. Dr. Robinson indicated that phase II studies using taxotere have been promising. He attended a conference recently where unpublished, un-peer reviewed data from a protocol showed that a percentage of mesothelioma patients did favorably respond to taxotere. Dr. Robinson is hoping to establish a phase II trial at H. Lee Moffitt in Tampa using taxotere and adriamycin on mesothelioma patients who may not be eligible for surgery. Dr. Robinson indicated that there is some preliminary data that shows that taxotere used in combination with doxyrubicin for breast cancer patients has been tolerated well. He noted that the taxotere chemicals tend to migrate and concentrate in the pleural linings where the drug is needed. More information will be forthcoming.
