The Dana Point Community Cycling Foundation Donates $10,000 to Local Charity
The Dana Point Community Cycling Foundation (DPCCF) presented the Boys and Girls Club of Capistrano Valley a check in the amount of $10,000 on Monday, January 5th, 2009. Members of the Board of the DPCCF and the Boys and Girls Club posed with the children that are directly affected by the funds donated. The donation was raised during the 2008 Dana Point Grand Prix of Cycling, an event organized by the DPCCF.
Roger Worthington, Back Row (third from the Left), is the President of the Dana Point Community Cycling Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non profit. To Roger's right is Floyd Landis, 2006 winner of the Tour De France. The Law Office of Roger Worthington, PC, is sponsoring Floyd Landis' comeback to racing on his new OUCH Racing team.
The Dana Point Community Cycling Foundation is a non profit organization created to promote cycling as healthy recreation for the greater good of the Dana Point community. Members of the Board are Roger Worthington, Darrin Duhamel, Steven Weinberg, and Doug Chotkevys.
The Dana Point Grand Prix of Cycling, which raised more than $25,000 for local charities in 2008, is now in its third year and is featured on the 2009 USA Cycling National Racing Calendar. This premier event attracts cyclists and fans from across the country to the picturesque harbor community of Dana Point. The Grand Prix, a criterium style race, also hosts a public race and five youth events, adding a family atmosphere to the exciting professional appeal.
The Boys and Girls Club of Capistrano Valley was chosen as a beneficiary of the Grand Prix because of their extraordinary commitment to the betterment of the local area youth. The Club is an after-school haven for over 200 adolescents and teens on a daily basis. James Littlejohn, Executive Director, is a dynamic leader who firmly believes in the nurturing of the youth’s mind, body, and soul. The Dana Point Community Cycling Foundation is proud to be a contributing factor in this dedication to ensuring the well-being and futures of our children.
