MARF: "Concert for a Cure" Held in Prosper, Texas September 26, 2006
|
On September 26, 2006 Angie Deets and Anne Abbe hosted a benefit concert to raise awareness for funding research for mesothelioma. Donations were accepted and sent directly to the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation (MARF). The "Concert for a Cure" was held at the Lighthouse Christian Fellowship Church in Prosper, Texas and in conjunction with the National Mesothelioma Awareness Day. Mr. Tony Elenburg, a nationally known Christian composer and recording artist was kind enough to perform several of his most popular songs. Angie is a long-time mesothelioma warrior and lives in Prosper. Her husband, Lewis lost his battle with mesothelioma in 2000 at the age of 55, just three months after he was diagnosed. Anne is on the Board of Directors for MARF. She lost her brother, Mike Melton to mesothelioma in 2003. Mike was 49 years old. Both of these ladies continue to promote awareness and the need for research in anticipation of ending mesothelioma as a life-ending disease.
