Senator Barbara Boxer
Re: Specter Asbestos Bailout Bill Dear Senator Boxer: I beg you please, vote against the Specter Asbestos Bill. I lost my husband George on September 4, 2004. He was diagnosed on July 27 and operated on at U.C.L.A. on Aug 28. It is a death sentence. The only reason he chose surgery and radiation was to be able to stay with us a little longer. A short overview, he was 73 yrs young, no one ever guessed him over 63. He never smoked one cigarette, worked out every day of his grown life. Never drank and loved his family with his whole heart. His mom died at 94 his grandfather 107 and his dad 84 -- longevity he thought. He did not want to sue. He loved his employer and felt for sure they wouldn't have known he was in danger. He worked for the company for 33 yrs and was exposed as different areas including while working as a carpenter. In one deposition there was a memo from an officer of the company advising them to sell the product in another state where there wasn't an active law yet. This is murder. If we can't put these people in jail then their profits should be hurt. They shouldn't be able to open a new company with a little different name and not have to pay the people they file bankruptcy on. If I'm rambling it's because I'm so angry all my words might seem jumbled. How would you feel if your husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather was killed because of ignorance and greed. I was angry at how much he had to go through. His pain was never below 8. He tried so hard but for all he went through to have only 12 months doesn't seem fair. We treat druggies, sex offenders and murderers better then he got. Please, please don't let these people get off scott free. Thank you,
Mrs. George Lachapelle (Ruth)
