Oppose Senate Bill 852 Alsea, OR

April 21, 2005

Senator Ron Wyden
230 Dirkson Senate Office Building
Washington DC 20510

Dear Senator Wyden,

Currently, there are no federal dollars specifically allocated for mesothelioma research. Of the patients diagnosed with mesothelioma every year, about one-third were exposed to asbestos while serving in the U.S. Navy. My husband served in the U.S. Navy. He was exposed to asbestos. He died of mesothelioma. His pain was excruciating.

Congress can help stop future suffering and death caused by asbestos disease by funding a National Mesotheliomia Research and Treatment Program (NMRTP) in the amount of $30 million per year. Please do not support the Asbestos Bail Out Bill.

I am asking you to be responsible in these efforts and encourage other Senators to join you in this crisis.

Sincerely,

Jean Carroll
Alsea OR
