My father was recently diagnosed with Mesothelioma. He is a decorated WW II hero. He was among the third wave of Marines to land on the shores of Iwo Jima. When the flag was raised on the top of Mt. Suribachi, Dad was on the foothills of that mountain that day fighting hand to hand with the Japanese, disengorging the enemy from their caves and tunnels. Corporate America has finally succeeded where 20,000 desperate Japanese warriors could not by dealing the ultimate torturous death blow to my father. This bill only serves a few greedy men at the apex of corporate America. These men have robbed my father of what most Americans would consider their "Golden" years and replaced that time with a painful and prolonged suffering. This bill would not adequately compensate the victims of asbestos exposure. How am I to tell my children that America is truly the greatest nation on Earth and worth the sacrifice of so many lives when it treats its citizens as a commodity for these large and greedy corporations?"
