Oppose Senate Bill 1125 Ft. Atkinson, WI

June 3, 2003

Senator Feingold,

I have been writing and writing to you, now I am pleading, begging you to please listen to our story. I am on my hands and knees. My husband who is 41 yrs old is DYING from Mesothelioma, the rare asbestos cancer. He has pleural, peritoneal and pericardium meso. It is everywhere in his young body. He is only 41, he has a 10 year old daughter who he is not going to see go to college, get married, see his grandchildren, weÆve been married for only 19 short years, our lives were just beginning, and now asbestos is going to take him from us. I am urging you to please come and visit with our family, meet my husband, see for yourself how asbestos related cancer has destroyed a normal, blue collar family, before you make any decisions regarding the bill that Senator Hatch (S.1125, The Asbestos Trust Fund) is fast-tracking to the Judiciary Committee. Here in todays society we are allowing people to collect millions on frivolous lawsuits, and I think you can remember what those are, and now here is my husband who is DYING from NO FAULT OF HIS OWN. Please Senator Feingold, hear me!!

I have attached a short version of our ordeal. This story does not tell all. The mountains of research that I have done, the phone calls that IÆve made, the doctors that weÆve been seen by and are being seen by, the actual pain that we have been through. My husbandÆs cancer was not diagnosed early enough. We started seeing doctors in late 1999 and were not diagnosed until December 31, 2001 at 5:00pm. What a wonderful New Years!!, wasnÆt it. It took them 2 yrs, 2yrs to diagnose him. His age was against him. Senator Feingold, I beg of you to please come meet our family, see for yourself, we will even open our medical records for you to review.

You need to see what asbestos has done to a real family. I am the wife of this mesothelioma patient, crying my eyes out as I write this, but believe me I am writing for alot of family and friends of Christopher John Stoeckler. They would all be more than willing to meet and tell you what this family has been through. I will be waiting for a phone call from you to talk more about this issue. You may reach me at ( )anytime after 3:30pm or at my work at ( ).

Again Senator Feingold, I am begging you to contact me.

Living a nightmare,

Wendy Stoeckler
