Oppose Senate Bill 1125 Searchlight, NV

Dear Mr. Worthington,

Below is a note I have sent off to Senator Hatch, I will send copies off to my Senators and anyone else you think should see it. I'm sorry I've been so slow to take up this fight, but I'm here now and will do whatever I can to help fight this horrible cancer, that took Chuck's life and stop those who think it should be swept under the rug. Please let me know what I can do. Chucks been gone now 1 year and 8 months, and I still don't know how to thank you and all those you work with for what you have done for me and for Chuck's kids..all 8 of them. Its still hard for me to believe he's gone and not coming home someday, we are all doing well. Thank you all,

Sincerely, Ellie Shook

Regarding SB 1125

Dear Senator Hatch.

My husband Charles (Chuck) Shook died Jan. 4th 2002 from Mesothelioma cancer, contacted from years of working with Asbestos. In Calif. he was a Drywall Contractor, but he had other jobs during his adult life where he also came into contact with Asbestos.

When he died he was the Fire Chief in the Searchlight Volunteer Fire Dept. We had come to Nevada to retire in 1996 and both of us became EMTs and joined the Searchlight Volunteer Fire Dept. In Nov. 2001 he was told he had Mesothelioma Cancer in the plural area of the lung, caused by working with Asbestos. There is no cure! no Chemo , no Radiation, nothing known to man today will stop it. He died 2 months later. We had only 2 months warning. It came on that fast, but we were told it had been growing inside him probably 40 years and usually hit men in their 70s, my husband was 70.

Please don't push your bill SB1125 through the Senate. PLEASE think this over. Chuck was healthy and loved the fire Dept. until this came along. He left 4 of his own children and 4 of mine and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

These companiesies you are working for knew there was a hazzard in using Asbestos, but did it anyway for many years after they knew.

I hope you will reconsider your efforts in backing this bill, and put forth your efforts in a more positive way to see that research is carried on to find a way to stop this awful disease.

Thank you for reading my note

Sincerely,

Eleanor Shook
