Re: The Law Offices of Roger G. Worthington, P.C.

Dear :

Thanks for talking to my office the other day. I'd like to follow up with a personal visit at a convenient time and place. In the meantime, here's some information about how our firm has been helping mesothelioma patients in the courthouse and in the hospitals over the past 16 years.

About The Law Offices of Roger G. Worthington

The Law Offices of Roger G. Worthington is a firm devoted to the representation of victims of asbestos-induced mesothelioma or lung cancer. Over the years, the firm has represented hundreds of Union workers, many of whom where members of the Sheet Metal Union. My partner Roger Worthington is the son of a long-time Union organizer, David "Punch" Worthington, who recently passed away from asbestos lung cancer after a 5 year struggle. Especially in light of this recent loss, the members of this firm take special pride and urgency in representing Union workers who, like Roger's father Punch, have fallen victim to occupational diseases such as mesothelioma.

The courtroom results for our clients speak for themselves. In the last ten years, we have recovered over $750 Million in verdicts and settlements. These results include:

  • $34 Million: 60 year-old Navy veteran, carpenter and maintenance man (2/05);

  • $15.25 Million: Widow of 74-year-old mason and boilermaker (9/06);

  • $12.6 Million: 69 year-old psychiatrist exposed on home remodels (7/06);

  • $10 Million: Family of 54 year-old woman exposed through Dad's clothes (6/04);

  • $9 Million: 64 year-old asbestos worker (9/03);

  • $8.4 Million: 60 year-old Navy veteran and crane operator (8/06);

  • $7.4 Million: 71 year-old public relations manager (8/06);

  • $7.3 Million: 76-year old electrician (5/04);

  • $6.9 Million: 54-year-old wife of drywaller and carpenter (7/06);

  • $6.2 Million: 71-year-old pipe contractor (9/06; resolved in 7 months); and

  • $3.4 Million: 74-year-old carpenter and drywaller (5/06; resolved in 8 months).

We also fight for our clients where help is needed most, in the hospitals and doctors' offices. The firm is leading the fight among lawyers nationwide in supporting medical and scientific research aimed at preventing and treating occupational cancers:

  • Roger Worthington has donated more money to asbestos cancer research than all the asbestos companies combined (over $2.5 million).

  • Roger Worthington founded the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation ("MARF" www.marf.org) in 1999. MARF's milestones include:

  • The first U.S. nonprofit to fund therapy-oriented mesothelioma research using a competitive, peer-review model - and has now grown its research portfolio to more than $3 million.

  • The first to involve plaintiff's lawyers, defendant companies, pharmaceutical companies, patients, families, and a diverse array of other individuals and corporations in a joint effort to fund the research needed to cure meso.

  • The first to persuade Congress to appropriate funds for mesothelioma research.

  • The first to organize an annual mesothelioma symposium to bring together patients, doctors, researchers and advocates.

  • The first to address the needs of patients and families for hope and medical information through a robust patient education program.

  • Roger Worthington has donated over $700,000 to the Pacific Heart, Lung & Blood Institute ("PACHLAB" www.phlbi.org). PACHLAB has recently announced an ambitious research plan which includes expanding prevention strategies for mesothelioma. PACHLAB also works closely with high-risk trades such as the Asbestos Workers Union to increase member awareness and facilitate access to life-extending medical treatment.

  • Through a generous donation from Roger Worthington, The David "Punch" Worthington Research Laboratory was opened at The David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA in 2005. In addition to being a union organizer, asbestos investigator and boxer, Roger's father Punch also earned a Ph.D in genetics.

How the Law Offices of Roger G. Worthington Can Be of Service to Your Members

Early detection of cancer is critical for successful treatment. We help our clients obtain a solid diagnosis. Often times, local doctors are unsure of what tests to administer or how to read them. We help our clients utilize the best pathologists and pulmonary doctors available, who can give them a reliable assessment of their case.

Too often, when a patient's diagnosis is confirmed, the local doctor will hang his head and advise the patient to "take a long cruise." Too many doctors are not aware of the current options for treating mesothelioma. We help our clients find the best surgeons, oncologists and radiologists in the world. Patients want to base life and death decisions on the best available information. They want second opinions. And they want doctors who are at the forefront of cancer research that has resulted in rapid treatment advancements in the past ten years. Workers need to be informed of the latest treatments offered by innovative doctors such as UCLA's Dr. Robert Cameron -- who has pioneered new surgical and immunotherapy protocols which are giving patients a real chance to beat the odds without sacrificing quality of life or bankrupting the family.

At the Law Offices of Roger Worthington, we are more than lawyers, we are "advocates." An advocate takes up the cause of others. We know our clients want more life. So, as aggressive as we are in fulfilling our clients' mandate to maximize compensation, we are equally passionate about helping our clients get more life. We strive to resolve each case as quickly as possible so our clients can invest the money in treatments that offer more life. Many of our cases are completely resolved within 6 to 8 months of filing, especially in California.

I welcome you to review the enclosed materials and to visit our website www.mesothel.com, which we launched in 1995 as the first website ever to educate mesothelioma patients about treatment options and promising areas of medical research. I'll call you in the coming days to arrange a time for a brief meeting.

I'd also like to discuss a promising new clinical trial Dr. Cameron will be conducting at the Punch Worthington Laboratory in Los Angeles which aims to test whether certain existing anti-inflammatory agents can reduce the incidence of cancer in workers who have been exposed to asbestos. We are honored and excited to support Dr. Cameron in this project which could result in a medication that actually prevents asbestos-exposed workers from developing cancer!

Sincerely,

John M. Caron. Esq.

Re: Asbestos Cancer Medical and Legal Update

Dear :

Just want to take this opportunity to update you on recent events. The Law Offices of Roger G. Worthington, P.C. is a firm devoted to the representation of victims of asbestos-induced lung cancer and mesothelioma. As the son of a long-time Union organizer, I take a special pride and have a sense of mission in representing Union workers who, like my father, have fallen victim to occupational diseases, such as mesothelioma.

The results we obtain for our clients are among the best in the country. The last three months have been particularly good for our clients:

  • $15.25 Million verdict for the widow of a 74-year-old mason and boilermaker (9/7/06), Los Angeles, California;

  • $6.2 Million in settlements for 71-year-old pipe contractor (9/6/06; resolved in seven months), Los Angeles;

  • $8.4 Million in settlements for 60-year-old Navy veteran and crane operator (8/15/06), Los Angeles;

  • $7.4 Million in settlements for 71-year-old Public Relations Manager. (8/6/06), Los Angeles;

  • $6.9 Million in settlements for 54-year-old wife of drywaller and carpenter (7/26/06), Houston, Texas;

  • $12.6 Million verdict for 69-year-old psychiatrist exposed on home remodels (7/5/06), Los Angeles; and

  • $3.4 Million jury verdict for 74-year-old carpenter and drywaller (5/30/06; resolved in eight months), Los Angeles.

In addition, Roger G. Worthington, P.C. continues to take the lead among lawyers nationwide in supporting medical and scientific research aimed at preventing and treating occupational cancers:

  • $500,000 donation to the Punch Worthington Lab at UCLA for asbestos cancer research, managed by the Pacific Heart, Lung, & Blood Institute, Inc. (www.phlbi.org) (9/6/06);

  • $75,000 sponsorship of the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation 3rd Annual International Symposium on Malignant Mesothelioma being held in Chicago, Illinois, October 20-21, 2006 (www.marf.org); and

  • Over $2,500,000 in donations to medical and scientific research within the past several years.

The Law Offices of Roger G. Worthington, P.C. believes strongly in going for the gold and giving something back. Settlements and verdicts on behalf of our clients with mesothelioma are among the highest in the U.S. Just as importantly, we have been able to completely resolve lawsuits in Los Angeles in less than eight months from the date of filing (many of our clients live in other states but we can file their lawsuits in Los Angeles, which is renowned for fair, working class juries).

We realize how critically important it is for our clients with mesothelioma to obtain their settlements speedily so they can put their compensation to work. We are also proud that many of our clients have generously donated a portion of their compensation to medical research. They know the importance of sparing future victims of the same tragedy.

We are standing by to speak to you and your membership. Choosing the right lawyer can make all the difference. Please feel free to call (800) 831-9399 for more information.

Sincerely,

Roger G. Worthington
